Sitges enhances security protocols for Santa Tecla festival

Sitges authorities are reviewing security and service protocols for the upcoming Santa Tecla festival, scheduled from September 18 to 23. Following public order disturbances and property damage during the Sant Bartomeu celebrations on August 24, local officials are taking preventive measures to ensure safety and response capacity.

Mayor Aurora Carbonell presided over a coordination meeting involving the Local Police, Mossos d’Esquadra, and the Festival Commission. Proposed actions include requesting additional security personnel, increasing drone surveillance in leisure areas, and expanding glass waste restriction zones to prevent nighttime accumulation. The plan focuses on identifying high-risk areas, managing mobility disruptions, and ensuring emergency service access.
