Sitges Film Festival announces Spanish lineup for 59th edition

The 59th edition of the Sitges Film Festival, a major international reference for fantasy and horror cinema, will take place from October 8 to 18, 2026. Artistic Director Ángel Sala and Foundation Director Mònica Garcia i Massagué have announced an advance selection of Spanish productions participating in the event.

The lineup features a diverse range of genres, including psychological thrillers, science fiction, and horror. Notable upcoming titles include ‘The End of It’ by María Martínez Bayona, a sci-fi film set in a near future where aging can be halted, starring Noomi Rapace and Gael García Bernal. Daniel Romero’s debut psychological thriller ‘Las hijas’ will be part of the Official Fantasy Competition, focusing on themes of isolation and manipulation.

Other featured Spanish works include ‘Upiro’ by Óscar Martín, a period piece inspired by historical vampirism cases, and ‘11’ by Clàudia and Paula Serra. The selection also includes ‘La muerte de Drácula’, ‘La mala madre’, and ‘Apocalipsis Z: Nuevo mundo’, showcasing a mix of established filmmakers and new voices in the genre.
