Sitges Film Festival honors 50 years of Spanish horror classic

The Sitges Film Festival is honoring the 50th anniversary of ‘¿Quién puede matar a un niño?’ (Who Can Kill a Child?), a film widely regarded as a masterpiece of Spanish horror cinema. Directed by Chicho Ibáñez Serrador, the 1976 film was shot in and around Sitges, which served as the setting for the fictional town of Benavís.

As part of the tribute, the festival presented a new 4K restored version of the film alongside the documentary ‘El último recreo’. Directed by Jesús Loniego, the documentary explores the film’s history, visits its filming locations, and features interviews with former child actors. The special screening was attended by Alejandro Ibáñez, son of the director, and actress Marian Salgado.
