SITHO 2026 opens in Ouagadougou to boost Sahelian tourism

The 16th edition of the Ouagadougou International Tourism and Hotel Trade Fair (SITHO 2026) officially opened on September 22 at the SIAO exhibition park. Presided over by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, the event focuses on the theme ‘Financing structural projects: a lever for tourism development.’

The fair emphasizes regional cooperation within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), featuring Mali and Niger as special guest countries. The objective is to build an integrated, competitive, and resilient Sahelian tourism offering by mobilizing investments for infrastructure, accommodation, mobility, and professional training.

In addition to the regional focus, the Guiriko region is the guest of honor, showcasing its local heritage, including traditional textiles and various tourism sites. The event aims to convert West African cultural and natural potential into sustainable economic opportunities and jobs.
