Sivas and Keşan roll out weekend tourism initiatives

Under the lead of Sivas governor Yılmaz Şimşek, the "Weekend Sivas" project was presented to travel agencies from Ankara, aiming to shift Sivas from a day‑trip stop to a regular weekend destination. The plan relies on the high‑speed train connection, cultural sites such as Divriği Ulu Camii, museums and local gastronomy, and includes B2B meetings with tourism operators, support from the ORAN Development Agency and coordination by Buruciye AŞ.

A separate observation from a week‑long stay in Keşan, Gelibolu and the Saroz Bay area highlighted how local businesses are feeling the tourism season. Shop owners reported lower sales than the previous year, cited devaluation and price pressures, and noted the popularity of municipal beaches and tea gardens among families. Private beach operators were seen limiting access, while the overall demand for coastal recreation remained strong, drawing both older visitors to cafés and younger tourists to beaches.
