Sivas investigation: Parents arrested in missing 11-month-old baby case
An investigation is underway in the Divriği district of Sivas following the disappearance of 11-month-old Büşra Balıkçı from a tent in the İncedere Plateau on September 10.
Authorities have arrested the infant's parents, Elif and Yusuf Balıkçı, along with four other relatives. A total of ten individuals have been detained as part of the expanding probe. The mother, Elif Balıkçı, provided conflicting statements to investigators; she initially claimed the child had been sold for money, but later alleged that her husband, Yusuf, had killed the baby and left her body in a nearby rocky area.
Despite extensive search operations involving AFAD, gendarmerie commandos, AI-supported drones, and tracking dogs, no trace of the infant has been found. The Divriği Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has imposed a publication ban on the case. Meanwhile, the four other children of the Balıkçı family have been placed under state protection.
