Sivas celebrates 107th anniversary of Sivas Congress

To commemorate the 107th anniversary of the Sivas Congress, the city of Sivas organized a massive cultural event featuring a traditional halay dance involving 1,058 participants. The large circle of people gathered in the city square, accompanied by drum and zurna music, to symbolize unity and togetherness.

Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek stated that the 1,058-person halay has become a traditional event. He emphasized the historical importance of September 4, noting that the Sivas Congress established the roadmap for the Turkish National Struggle and laid the foundations of the Republic.

The anniversary celebrations include a wide range of activities organized by the Sivas Governor's Office and the Sivas Municipality. The program features concerts, folk dance performances, historical reenactments, a themed fashion show, and visits to the graves of congress delegates. Other scheduled events include a helicopter display, a parade from the Sivas Train Station to the Republic Square, and the opening of the 10th Sivas Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Fair.
