Sivas Congress 107th anniversary commemorated in Beylikdüzü
The 107th anniversary of the Sivas Congress and the 17th World Sivaslılar Day were commemorated in Beylikdüzü through a series of organized events. The program was held in collaboration with the Beylikdüzü Municipality and the Beylikdüzü Sivaslılar Social Assistance and Cultural Association.
Activities at the Beylikdüzü Sivas Congress Building and the September 4, 1919 Youth Center included a wreath-laying ceremony, a photography exhibition, and a musical performance by Hüseyin Gülsoy and guest artists. A lecture titled ‘The Historical Importance of September 4’ was delivered by Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Kuzucu, focusing on the role of the Sivas Congress during the Turkish War of Independence.
During the event, Beylikdüzü District Governor Bülent Karacan emphasized the historical significance of Sivas, noting that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk ignited the flame of the liberation struggle in that region. Other speakers, including Serdal Mumcu and Eyyüp Günay, highlighted the congress as a foundational pillar of the Republic and a symbol of national will.
