Sivas Cumhuriyet University implements new medical faculty regulations

A new regulation governing the education, examination, and graduation processes for Sivas Cumhuriyet University Medical Faculty has been published in the Official Gazette. The updated rules will be implemented starting from the beginning of the 2026-2027 academic year.

Key changes for the first three years of study include a grading system where the course committee average accounts for 60 percent of the final grade and the end-of-term exam accounts for 40 percent. Students must score at least 50 on end-of-term or make-up exams to progress, with a general success requirement of at least 60 points. Students with a course committee average of 80 or higher may apply for exemption from end-of-term exams.

For fourth and fifth-year students, clinical internships require a minimum score of 60. Evaluations will consider theoretical knowledge, practical performance, internship logs, and exam results. Additionally, students participating in scientific research or social activities may receive up to 10 academic incentive points added to their end-of-term success grades. The regulation also establishes a single-course exam right for intern doctors who have failed only one mandatory or elective course.
