Sivas population in Istanbul reaches over 758,000

According to 2025 data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), there are 758,939 people living in Istanbul who are registered with the Sivas population registry. This figure makes Sivas-registered citizens the largest group among those with population registries in other provinces within Istanbul.

While specific 2025 district-level data is still being evaluated, historical research from 2023 indicates that Ümraniye is a primary hub for the Sivas community, with 60,173 residents. Kağıthane followed in second place with 51,569 residents. Other districts with significant Sivas populations include Ataşehir, Pendik, Sarıyer, and Maltepe.

In total, Sivas-registered citizens are notably concentrated across 11 Istanbul districts: Beşiktaş, Şişli, Kağıthane, Sarıyer, Beylikdüzü, Ümraniye, Ataşehir, Maltepe, Çekmeköy, Pendik, and Şile. The statistics include both migrants from Sivas and individuals born and raised in Istanbul who maintain their official registration in Sivas.
