Sivas residents begin traditional wool bedding preparations

In Sivas, Turkey, residents have begun the traditional process of preparing wool for quilts and mattresses ahead of the winter season. The labor-intensive process involves cleaning, washing, beating, and drying the wool in the sun before it is fluffed and sewn into bedding.

Local resident Saniye Aydın noted that the preparation for approximately five to six quilts can take about a week. While she emphasizes the durability and health benefits of wool, she observed that the tradition is declining as younger generations increasingly prefer modern sponge mattresses over traditional wool products.
