Sivas residents form the largest demographic group in Istanbul
Demographic data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) reveals the population distribution of residents in Istanbul based on their registered home provinces. Sivas remains the most prominent group, with over 750,000 residents registered in the city, a figure that exceeds the total population of Sivas itself.
Sivas residents constitute the largest demographic group in 11 of Istanbul's 39 districts. On the European side, they are the most numerous in Beşiktaş, Şişli, Kağıthane, Sarıyer, and Beylikdüzü. On the Asian side, they lead in Çekmeköy, Ümraniye, Ataşşehir, Maltepe, Pendik, and Şile.
Other significant groups include residents from Kastamonu and Ordu, who follow Sivas in total numbers. In specific districts, Tokat residents are the most numerous in Silivri, Çatalca, Büyükçekmece, and Avcılar, while Malatya residents lead in Başakşehir, Esenler, Bahçelievler, and Bakırköy. Mardin residents are the largest group in Küçükçekmece, Fatih, and Zeytinburnu.
