Sivas investigation: 6 detained in missing 11-month-old baby case

An investigation is underway in Divriği, Sivas, following the disappearance of 11-month-old Büşra Balıkçı, who went missing from a tent on September 10. While initial reports suggested the infant might have been taken by wild animals, the investigation shifted significantly after the mother, Elif Balıkçı, provided new testimony.

Elif Balıkçı alleged that the baby was handed over to individuals in a white vehicle by the father, Yusuf Balıkçı, in exchange for money. She further claimed that the initial report of the baby being missing was a fabrication. Authorities have detained six individuals, including the parents and four others, as they investigate allegations of human trafficking and potential foul play.

Search and rescue operations continue in the region, utilizing AFAD teams, gendarmerie commandos, tracking dogs, and AI-supported drones. During the search, bloody and torn clothing believed to belong to the infant was discovered approximately 2 kilometers away from the family's tent. Authorities are also investigating the possibility that the child may have lost her life.
