Sivas wild horses captured roaming Kangal and Divriği districts

Large herds of wild horses, known as yilki horses, were filmed roaming freely across the steppes of Sivas, Turkey. The animals were observed near Bektaş village in the Kangal district and around the Yama Mountains in the Divriği district.

Local observer Muhammed Yılmaz captured footage of approximately 50 to 60 horses running together after being startled by the sound of his motorcycle. Yılmaz noted that the actual population in the area is likely larger than what was visible, with various groups inhabiting the Yama Mountain region.

The horses live in social groups characterized by a specific hierarchy, where a stallion serves as the leader. According to observations, if two stallions exist within the same group, they compete for leadership; the loser either joins a different group or lives in isolation.
