Five detained in renewed investigation of 2015 Fenerbahçe bus attack

Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that five suspects have been detained in connection with the 2015 armed attack on a Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü team bus in Trabzon. The investigation was reopened by the newly established Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department within the Ministry of Justice.

Authorities utilized updated technological methods, including new HTS and base station analyses, to re-evaluate evidence from the original incident. The 2015 attack resulted in the serious injury of the bus driver and posed a significant threat to the players and club officials.

Fenerbahçe released a statement expressing satisfaction with the state's decisive action to uncover the perpetrators after 11 years. The club thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister Gürlek, and Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi for their commitment to achieving justice and shedding light on the attack.
