Sivers Semiconductors and SemiNex launch $3.4M AI optical program
Sivers Semiconductors and SemiNex Corporation have launched a $3.4 million program to develop next-generation indium phosphide (InP) light sources designed for AI data center interconnects.
The collaboration focuses on creating high-power, multi-wavelength light sources required for co-packaged optics (CPO) and emerging scale-up architectures. Key technical targets include high-power external laser sources, high-channel-count DFB arrays for wavelength-multiplexed links, and semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) gain stages to extend optical reach.
As AI infrastructure expands, the companies aim to address constraints in the optical layer by improving power, wavelength capacity, and efficiency through advanced InP design and processing. Customer sampling and early production ramps are projected for the second half of 2027.
