Sivrihisar Mayor outlines infrastructure and restoration projects
Sivrihisar Mayor Habil Dökmeci has detailed several ongoing infrastructure and restoration projects within the district. Key initiatives include the renewal of a major road connecting to Konya that has not seen significant work in approximately 50 years.
Regarding cultural heritage, the Mayor noted that restoration is underway at the UNESCO-listed Ulu Mosque in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Additionally, the municipality has completed the restoration of the Anadolu Seljuk Ulu Mosque and the Seyyidler Hamam. Work is currently progressing on the Armenian Hamam, where recent archaeological excavations have uncovered a 19th-century stone path linked to a church.
Addressing municipal finances, Dökmeci stated that the municipality carries no social security or tax debts. While there are outstanding payments to contractors based on project milestones, he emphasized that the administration manages the budget through careful control and savings. He also addressed ongoing legal challenges and false bomb threats, asserting that the district remains a peaceful area.
