Six dead in Baní after vehicle plunges into La Neverita river

On Monday night in Baní, Peravia province, Dominican Republic, two separate incidents caused six fatalities. In the community of Villa Güera, two teenagers – 17‑year‑old Alexander Mojica and 18‑year‑old Jhoan Ángel Germán – died when their motorcycles collided head‑on.

Hours later, a Chevrolet Tahoe jeepette carrying four young adults slipped into a deep pool at the La Neverita bathing area on the Nizao River. The occupants – Karlos Yamil Lorenzo Gilarranz (34), Gabriel Rafael Joa Rondón (31), Aldy Shamir Royer Frías (34) and Ginneidy Alcántara Suero (23) – were trapped inside the vehicle and drowned.

Emergency responders from the national 9‑1‑1 system, the Police, the Directorate of Emergency Assistance (DAEH), Digesett, DICRIM and forensic teams recovered the bodies and opened investigations into both crashes.
