Six dead in Russian Far East train and minibus collision

A collision between a passenger train and a minibus resulted in six deaths and one serious injury in Russia’s Jewish Autonomous Region on Saturday, October 24.

According to the Far Eastern Railway, the minibus attempted to cross a level crossing while the signal was red. The collision involved train number 35, which was traveling on the Khabarovsk-Blagoveshchensk line. Although the train driver applied emergency brakes, the impact could not be avoided.

Local authorities reported that all seven occupants of the minibus were foreign nationals, though their specific nationalities were not immediately identified. No passengers or crew members on the train were injured, and the train did not derail. Service on the line resumed approximately 37 minutes after the incident.
