Six Flags considers rebranding Cedar Point and Kings Island

Six Flags is conducting surveys among season pass holders to test potential rebranding for its major amusement parks in Ohio, including Cedar Point and Kings Island. The surveys explore names that incorporate the Six Flags brand, such as ‘Six Flags of North Ohio’ or ‘Cedar Point, a Six Flags Experience’.

The proposal has met significant resistance from longtime fans. Critics point to the historical decline and eventual closure of the Geauga Lake amusement park, which was previously operated by Six Flags under various names. Many enthusiasts express concern that removing the iconic ‘Cedar Point’ name would erase the identity of the park, which was founded in 1870 and is one of the oldest in the United States.

A spokesperson for Six Flags stated that no final decisions have been made. The company clarified that the survey is part of routine research intended to test naming concepts and understand guest resonance rather than a formal announcement of a name change.
