Six Flags Darien Lake cancels 2026 Fright Fest

Six Flags Darien Lake has announced the cancellation of its signature Fright Fest event for the 2026 Halloween season. Instead, the New York-based theme park will focus on family-friendly daytime experiences.

The park will host Kids Boo Fest, a daytime event featuring costume contests and trick-or-treating, running from September 19 through October 11, 2026. Additionally, the park is extending its Oktoberfest event, which offers German-inspired food and live entertainment.

The decision follows a lawsuit filed by a guest alleging negligence led to serious foot burns during a visit to the park. While the Darien Lake location is scaling back its horror offerings, other Six Flags locations across the country will proceed with Fright Fest, featuring various horror-themed intellectual properties such as 'The Blair Witch Project' and 'Final Destination'.
