Six Flags Great Adventure's Bakunawa coaster to break six world records

Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey unveiled its new roller coaster, Bakunawa, slated to open in 2027. The 382‑foot tall, 100 mph spinning launch coaster will become the world’s tallest and fastest of its type and will rank among the five tallest giga coasters worldwide. It features two 20‑passenger floor‑less, free‑spinning train cars that rotate independently, delivering a unique ride experience each time.

The ride includes three linear synchronous motor launches: a first launch from 0 to 60 mph, a second world‑first upside‑down launch accelerating from 60 to 80 mph while inverted, and a final launch reaching 100 mph. The two‑minute, 17‑second course stretches 3,163 feet and incorporates the world’s longest stall inversion. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall. The coaster’s theme draws on the Philippine sea‑serpent Bakunawa, fitting the park’s newly revamped Boardwalk area.

Six world records are claimed: fastest spinning coaster, tallest spinning coaster, fastest inversion, longest stall inversion, first floorless spinning coaster, and first upside‑down launch.
