Six Flags Magic Mountain announces new Thrill Glider coaster for 2027

Six Flags Magic Mountain has announced the development of ‘Thrill Glider,’ a new category of roller coaster scheduled to debut in 2027. Developed in partnership with manufacturer Vekoma, the attraction is designed to combine flying, motorbike, and suspended coaster technologies.

Riders will use custom-designed hovercycle vehicles, assuming a prone, face-forward position suspended beneath the track. The 80-second experience features a 3.5-acre layout with 20 unique track elements, including multiple launches reaching speeds of 50 mph, 12 airtime moments, and five unique inversions. The ride will include synchronized onboard audio and immersive lighting.

The attraction is set to be built on the site of the former Golden Bear Theatre in Santa Clarita, California. The experience is themed around ‘QuantumPulse Propulsion Systems,’ a fictional visionary technology company led by inventor Rebecca Silva. Park president Brian Oerding described the project as a milestone in the park’s role as an industry innovator.
