Six Flags Magic Mountain permanently closes X2 roller coaster

Six Flags Magic Mountain has announced the permanent closure of its X2 roller coaster following numerous claims of traumatic brain injuries. The decision follows investigations and multiple lawsuits alleging that the ride caused severe head trauma to riders.

Park president Brian Oerding stated that while the attraction consistently passed various safety tests and inspections, the company decided to retire the ride because it was ‘the right thing to do’ to address concerns regarding guest trust. The coaster had been out of operation since July after two riders required emergency brain surgery within a single week.

Legal representatives from the Dordick Law Corporation report that approximately 400 individuals have contacted them claiming injuries related to the ride, with more than 100 people specifically coming forward with claims of head or brain trauma over the last two years. California’s workplace safety agency, Cal/OSHA, maintains an active investigation into the matter.
