Six hikers missing during Trans Gerah mountain expedition
A multi-agency search and rescue operation has been launched to locate six individuals missing during a Trans Gerah mountain expedition. The group, which includes a family of four and two experienced mountain guides, entered the forest through Pos Dakoh, Lojing, on August 29.
The group was scheduled to exit via Pos Kemar, Perak, on September 3 but failed to do so. The last contact with the hikers was on September 1, when they reported being in the Perak forest area. Authorities believe the group may have crossed the state border from Kelantan into Perak.
Rescue efforts involve the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), police, the Forestry Department, and various specialized units. The operation includes land, water, and air components, utilizing STORM tactical teams, mountain rescue teams (MOSAR), K9 units, and aerial surveillance. Search teams are coordinating through a command post at Pos Kemar and Gerik.
