Planetary alignment to be visible in Mexico on August 12, 2026

On the morning of Wednesday, August 12, 2026, an astronomical phenomenon known as a planetary parade will be visible from Mexico. Six planets—Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune—will appear together in the same region of the sky before sunrise.

In Mexico City, the optimal observation window is estimated to be between 5:35 AM and 5:53 AM, ahead of the sunrise at approximately 6:16 AM. While Mars and Saturn are expected to be the easiest to locate due to their brightness, other planets will require different tools: Mercury and Jupiter will be low on the eastern horizon, Uranus is best viewed with binoculars, and Neptune will require a telescope.

The planets will not form a perfect straight line but will appear distributed in a wide arc from the east toward the southwest due to perspective from Earth. This event coincides with the peak activity of the Perseids meteor shower and a scheduled solar eclipse on the same date.
