Six sheep were found dead during the early hours of Saturday at the Serrote do Algodão farm in the rural area of Craíbas, located in the Agreste region of Alagoas, Brazil. The cause of death remains unknown, and no responsible parties have been identified.
The incident has fueled local speculation regarding the folkloric “chupa-cabra,” though there is no scientific evidence to support the existence of such a creature. Some residents have reported finding animals without blood, but these claims have not been confirmed by technical evaluations.
Similar incidents involving unusual animal deaths have been reported over recent months in the municipalities of Craíbas, Arapiraca, and Igaci. Since May, several producers in the region have reported similar occurrences. In response to these losses, some local breeders have increased security measures, including installing monitoring cameras, improving lighting, and moving shelters closer to residences.
