Six suspects arrested in killing of Belgian officer Nordine El Talbi
Six suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Belgian police officer Nordine El Talbi. The 41-year-old inspector was shot in the head during a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Jette, Brussels, earlier this week.
The suspects, all Belgian nationals with prior criminal records related to drug trafficking, were apprehended across three countries. Two were arrested in Belgium, one was detained at a train station in Paris, France, and three were intercepted by the Guardia Civil in Almería, Spain, while allegedly attempting to travel to Morocco. The group includes five adults and one minor.
One suspect has publicly claimed innocence, stating he was a witness to the murder rather than a perpetrator and that the actual killers fled the scene. During a court hearing, he asserted that both his life and the officer's life were in danger. Belgian authorities are working to extradite the suspects apprehended in France and Spain to face justice in Belgium.
