Six-year-old girl killed in A12 collision involving lorry

A six-year-old girl has died following a serious collision involving a car and a lorry on the A12 northbound carriageway near junction 28, close to Colchester. The incident occurred shortly after 10:30 am on Monday.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, responded to the scene. While the young girl died at the site of the crash, a second child was treated for a leg injury and transported to a hospital. The A12 was closed in both directions for several hours to allow investigators to work.

Essex Police confirmed that the lorry driver passed all roadside tests, and no arrests have been made at this stage. Detective Inspector Mark Fraser stated that specialist officers are supporting the child’s family and that the investigation is progressing. Authorities plan to interview the lorry driver in the coming days and are requesting dash cam footage or any information from witnesses to assist in understanding the circumstances of the crash.
