Sixth Flu A Death Confirmed in Santa Fe Province, Argentina
The Ministry of Health of Santa Fe province confirmed a sixth fatality from influenza A (H3N2) during 2026. All six victims belonged to high‑risk groups and none had received the seasonal flu vaccine.
Epidemiological data show that cases of Flu A in Rosario and the wider province are on a downward trend, accounting for about 13 % of the respiratory samples processed at the provincial laboratory (CEMAR). The provincial bulletin recorded 25,357 hospitalisations for severe acute respiratory infections in 2026; 1,203 patients had a confirmed viral aetiology, with influenza A being the most frequent virus (621 cases).
Health authorities stress the importance of vaccination, which is free and offered to health workers, pregnant and postpartum women, children aged 6‑24 months, people over 65, and individuals with chronic conditions. They urge any unvaccinated persons in these risk groups to be vaccinated promptly as the colder months continue.
