Six‑year prison term handed to drug trafficker for 18 kg cocaine haul in Mallorca
A 60‑year‑old man was sentenced to six years in prison and fined one million euros after authorities uncovered 18 kg of high‑purity cocaine and 1.9 kg of hashish hidden in the undercarriage of his car at Palma de Mallorca port. The haul, valued at over a million euros on the black market, was detected when the man arrived by ferry from Valencia and was stopped by the Guardia Civil and the Customs Surveillance Service. Investigators also found dozens of plastic plates containing the drugs in the vehicle’s chassis.
The court recorded the conviction without a separate hearing, following an agreement between the prosecutor and the defendant’s lawyer. The offender, who has prior fraud convictions, remains incarcerated pending the judgment.
