Siya Kolisi injury threatens Springboks leadership for All Blacks series

Springboks captain Siya Kolisi faces uncertainty ahead of the upcoming four-Test series against the All Blacks following a hamstring injury. Kolisi was forced off the field during a recent match in Argentina after sustaining a strain to his other hamstring, shortly after returning from a previous injury that sidelined him during the July Tests.

Kolisi has undergone scans to determine the severity of the injury. Teammates Steven Kitshoff and Trevor Nyakane expressed concern regarding his availability for the series, which begins on August 22. While the coaching staff will assess the situation, potential leadership candidates to step in include Pieter-Steph du Toit, Eben Etzebeth, and Jesse Kriel.

In preparation for the series, veteran utility forward Deon Fourie has been called up to the national squad to provide experience to the forwards.
