Sjællands Universitetshospital bed building reaches full height

The new bed building at Sjællands Universitetshospital in Nykøbing F. has reached its full height of six stories. This 15,000 m2 project is a central part of a larger 750 million DKK modernization of the hospital, with the bed building alone representing an investment of approximately 550 million DKK.

The new facility will feature 162 modern single rooms, including specialized bariatric rooms on each floor. The transition to single rooms with private bathrooms is intended to improve patient care, privacy, and working conditions for staff. The building is expected to be ready for use in 2029.

To mark the progress and engage the community, the hospital will host an ‘Open Hospital 2026’ event on September 6. The event will include activities such as a ‘teddy bear hospital’ for children, demonstrations of medical equipment, and insights into the ongoing construction and health research.
