Sjællands Universitetshospital completes patient relocation to Køge

Sjællands Universitetshospital has successfully completed a major relocation of patients and staff to its new facility in Køge. On a Sunday, 26 cancer patients were transported via ambulance and patient transport from departments in Roskilde and Næstved to the newly constructed ward building.

The move marks the first time patients have been transferred from other cities to this location. The new facility features modern single rooms designed to provide increased privacy and tranquility for patients. The relocation includes departments for Cancer Treatment, Palliative Care, and Blood Diseases.

The new building provides 69 beds across the 5th to 7th floors and is staffed by over 440 employees. Region Sjælland Chair Trine Birk Andersen noted that centralizing specialized cancer treatment under one roof aims to consolidate expertise and improve patient care. Program and Vice Director Gitte Fangel added that the new setting in Køge will facilitate better cross-departmental collaboration.
