SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics see leverage ETF trading plunge as KOSPI volatility persists

After the Korea Exchange tightened rules on single‑stock leveraged ETFs, the share of such products in trading volume fell sharply. For SK Hynix, the leveraged‑ETF proportion dropped from about 70% to roughly 12%, and for Samsung Electronics from around 21% to just under 5%.

Despite the reduction in leveraged‑ETF activity, the KOSPI index continued its sharp swings, sliding 4.6% to 6,296 points, a 301‑point decline. Market volatility remained high, with side‑car mechanisms triggered on two consecutive trading days. Trading volume stayed concentrated in large semiconductor stocks, while a mix of gains and losses appeared across other sectors.
