SK hynix Indiana HBM plant to be managed by HanmiGlobal

HanmiGlobal has been appointed to manage the construction project management (PM) for SK hynix’s advanced packaging plant in West Lafayette, Indiana. The facility, which focuses on High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) for AI applications, represents an investment of over $4 billion.

Construction is currently underway with the goal of completing the cleanroom by October 2028, aiming for mass production in the second half of 2029. HanmiGlobal will oversee design, process, cost, quality, and safety management, coordinating between Korean and American partners.

Amid rising demand for AI memory, SK hynix faces ongoing speculation regarding further overseas expansions, including potential investments in the United States and Japan. While the company has stated that no specific overseas investments are finalized, the need to secure production capacity for HBM, server DRAM, and SSDs remains a key industry driver. Currently, the company is prioritizing domestic capacity expansion in South Korea, including major investments in Yongin and Cheongju.
