SK hynix shares rise on AI memory demand and US expansion plans

SK hynix shares rose 2.5% following positive market sentiment regarding the memory chip industry and the artificial intelligence buildout. Analysts suggest a memory supercycle could extend into 2027, supported by the company’s leadership in High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and planned capacity expansions through 2029.

Reports indicate that SK hynix’s subsidiary, Solidigm, is considering establishing a NAND flash factory in the United States, with upstate New York identified as a potential location. Additionally, the company is reportedly in preliminary discussions with Intel regarding memory-chip production at Intel’s site in Ohio.
