SK Innovation E&S imports first Australian condensate shipment

South Korean energy firm SK Innovation E&S announced that a tanker will dock at Incheon Port in early August with 300,000 barrels of ultra‑light condensate (condensate) produced at the Barossa offshore gas field in north‑west Australia. This is the first time a private Korean company has secured and imported condensate from an overseas development for domestic use.

The condensate will be fed into SK Incheon Petrochemical’s dedicated processing unit to produce naphtha, para‑xylene, gasoline and jet fuel, helping to diversify Korea’s feedstock supply away from the traditionally Middle‑East‑centric market. SK Innovation holds a 37.5% stake in the Barossa project, which also delivers LNG to Korea, and the company expects the new source to improve supply security amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region.
