SK Shieldus and Elimnet partner to bolster medical cybersecurity

SK Shieldus and Elimnet have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop integrated security services specifically designed for medical institutions. The partnership aims to strengthen personal information protection and cybersecurity within the healthcare sector.

The collaboration combines SK Shieldus’s 24-hour Managed Security Services (MSS) and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) capabilities with Elimnet’s expertise in medical ICT services, including Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR). The companies plan to share real-time information regarding the latest security threats and vulnerabilities targeting medical facilities to build a joint response system.

This initiative comes amid a rising trend of cyberattacks on healthcare providers. Data indicates that security incidents at domestic medical institutions in South Korea increased nearly fourfold between 2020 and 2024. Experts note that these threats have evolved beyond simple data breaches to potentially impacting the continuity of medical services and patient safety.
