Skales addresses betrayal and industry beef in Nigeria

Nigerian Afrobeat artist Skales has addressed his experiences with betrayal and hostility within the music industry. In recent social media posts, the singer expressed frustration over being lied to and having his achievements downplayed by individuals he previously considered allies. He noted that some peers pushed agendas to diminish his success after gaining their own influence.

Skales also issued a warning regarding the culture of ‘beef’ and public rivalry, stating that the promotion of such hostility could eventually lead to the loss of lives in the Nigerian music industry. He urged colleagues and fans to prioritize respect and love over hate.

Addressing past professional relationships, Skales clarified his history with former labelmate Wizkid, noting that while he contributed to some of Wizkid’s successful songs, they were never close friends outside of their time at the same label. He also dismissed recent claims regarding his financial history involving Burna Boy, labeling such stories as fabrications.
