Skalica maternity hospital offers labor pools to support natural childbirth

The AGEL Skalica Faculty Hospital in Slovakia offers a maternity pool to support women during the first stage of labor. The facility provides warm water to help mothers relax and manage contractions more effectively. In addition to the pool, the maternity ward offers tools such as herbal compresses, fitness balls, and showers to create a comfortable environment for natural childbirth.

Medical professionals emphasize that while water immersion can provide relief and support a positive birth experience, usage is subject to the mother's health status and the progress of labor. The hospital also focuses on individual approaches, including postpartum bonding and breastfeeding support.

Separately, discussions regarding maternal health highlight a significant gap in postpartum preparation. While much focus is placed on pregnancy, the postpartum period—specifically the first six weeks—is often overlooked. Research indicates that insufficient information and support during this time are linked to higher risks of postpartum depression and poorer perceived health among mothers.
