Skanska to build railway link for Warszawa-Modlin Airport

Skanska has emerged as the preferred contractor for a new 5.5-kilometer railway line connecting Modlin station directly to the Warszawa-Modlin Airport terminal. The company’s bid amounted to 367.39 million PLN gross, winning against 10 other competitors.

The project aims to eliminate the need for passengers to transfer to buses to reach the airport terminal. Key components of the investment include the construction of a new station adjacent to the terminal, the expansion of railway infrastructure in Modlin, and the building of three viaducts. Additionally, the project involves expanding the Modlin station with an extra track and a 200-meter platform, as well as constructing a freight station.

Construction is planned to take place between 2027 and 2029, with the connection expected to be operational by 2029. The final contract signing is subject to standard regulatory procedures.
