Skaraborg District Court convicts teenager for school assault

A teenage boy has been convicted of assault by the Skaraborg District Court following an incident at a school in western Skaraborg in January. During a lunch break, the boy lured a classmate up a staircase, where he wrestled the victim to the ground and pressed his hands against the classmate's chest.

The victim suffered pain, redness, and a bump, and reported feeling too afraid to attend school for a week following the attack. While the defendant claimed he heard voices instructing him to attack the classmate, the court determined he was contactable during the event, had planned the act in advance, and understood his actions.

Due to his young age and mental health struggles, the court issued a lighter sentence consisting of 20 hours of youth service. The defendant was also ordered to pay 8,000 SEK in damages to the victim and a 1,000 SEK fee to the Crime Victim Fund. The defendant expressed deep regret and has since apologized to the classmate.
