Skardu military base was a target during Operation Sindhu, says former Army Chief

Former Indian Army Chief Anil Sachdev revealed plans to strike Pakistan’s Skardu military base during ‘Operation Sindhu’. The operation was conducted in May as a response to terrorist attacks in the Pahalgam region of Kashmir.

According to Sachdev, during discussions on May 10, the Indian Air Force requested permission to strike the Sargodha airbase. While the Pakistani side inquired about the possibility of targeting Sargodha, the Indian side identified Skardu as a potential target. However, the strike was ultimately not carried out due to deteriorating weather conditions.

Skardu is considered a highly strategic location for Pakistan due to its proximity to the Line of Control and Ladakh. It serves as a vital military hub for protecting Chinese infrastructure projects, including parts of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Military analysts suggest that a strike on Skardu would have dealt a significant blow to Pakistan and served as a strong signal to China.
