Skateboarder Yukito Aoki referred to prosecutors for cannabis possession

Yukito Aoki, a 23-year-old skateboarder and Tokyo Olympics representative, has been referred to prosecutors on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Law.

The incident occurred on August 6 at JR Shinkiba Station in Koto Ward, Tokyo. During a routine patrol, police officers conducted a questioning of Aoki, which led to the discovery of a small amount of dried cannabis in his possession.

Aoki has reportedly admitted to the charges, stating, “It is true that I was in possession of cannabis.” Aoki, originally from Shizuoka Prefecture, competed in the men's street skateboarding event at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where he finished 17th in the qualifying round.
