Danny León performs viral skate trick during solar eclipse
Spanish Olympic skateboarder Danny León has captured global attention with a viral video of a synchronized skate trick performed during a total solar eclipse. The maneuver took place in the rural town of Novales, in the province of Huesca, Spain, on August 12, 2026.
León, a two-time Olympian who competed in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, described the feat as ‘the trick of my life’. The stunt was the result of over a year of planning and coordination with a specialized team of filmmakers and photographers, including Jaicano and Gonzalo de Vega. The team had a narrow 30-second window to capture the perfect shot as the Moon completely obscured the Sun.
The footage, which has amassed millions of views and likes on social media, shows León performing an aerial jump on a custom-built ramp, with his silhouette perfectly framed against the solar corona. León noted that this event completes a ‘celestial trilogy’ of stunts, following previous projects involving the setting sun and a full moon.
