Turkish municipalities launch free YKS university counseling programs
Between late July and early August 2026 several Turkish municipalities opened free university‑preference counseling services for YKS candidates. Kayseri University Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa urged students to consider job‑guaranteed pre‑college programmes, noting around 70 such tracks. Education experts in a YKS “marathon” column advised candidates to base choices on success rankings rather than raw scores and to use flexible list strategies. AK Party Balıkesir MP Mustafa Canbey publicly invited students to consider Balıkesir University and Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, emphasizing the city’s safety and student‑friendly environment.
