Skechers wins patent infringement lawsuit in Munich

Skechers U.S.A., Inc. has announced a legal victory in a patent infringement lawsuit brought by Fast IP, LLC (Kizik) before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) in Munich. The ruling follows claims made by HandsFree Labs that certain Skechers hands-free footwear styles infringed upon their patents.

Skechers reported that the Munich Court found Kizik’s infringement claims to be “largely unfounded.” The company stated it won on three of the four styles contested in the 2025 lawsuit, noting that the fourth style was “minor and commercially insignificant.”

In response to the litigation, Skechers emphasized its position as a market leader in hands-free footwear, citing the global sales of its Slip-ins and Swift Fit trademarks. The company also noted it holds more than 300 hands-free utility and design patents worldwide.
