Skeleton athlete Jacqueline Pfeifer announces retirement
German skeleton athlete Jacqueline Pfeifer has announced her retirement from professional sports at the age of 31. Pfeifer cited a lack of motivation to continue training for the next four-year cycle leading up to the 2030 Olympic Games as the primary reason for her decision.
Throughout her career, Pfeifer achieved significant success, including two Olympic silver medals in individual competition at the Pyeongchang 2018 and Milan-Cortina Winter Games, as well as a bronze medal in the mixed competition in Italy. Her accolades also include three World Championship titles, one European Championship title, two overall World Cup titles, and 15 individual World Cup victories.
Pfeifer, who began her career with RSG Hochsauerland and has been employed by the Federal Police (Bundespolizei) sports promotion group since 2014, plans to transition into a professional role within the Federal Police following her retirement. She noted that she will use the upcoming period to decondition and complete internships to determine her future career path.
