SKI citrus soda maintains strong cultural ties to Evansville

The citrus soda SKI has developed a deep cultural connection to Evansville, Indiana, where it is colloquially known as ‘Westside Water.’ The beverage is considered a community staple in the Tri-State area.

Despite its strong local identity in Indiana, SKI was originally created in 1956 by the Double Cola Company in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The name was suggested by employee Dot Myers, who drew inspiration from a water-skiing trip on Chickamauga Lake.
